Cougar Connect – December 10th, 2023
Dear Coolidge Families,
The holiday season is underway! Wishing a fun and festive December to everyone in our community! Here’s the weekly PTO update with info about a recent author visit, the staff holiday cookie exchange, and more.
A Visit from Wendy Mass
Last Friday, the PTO sponsored an author visit from Wendy Mass. We are grateful to Mrs. Needleman, our Coolidge Media Specialist, who was instrumental in the planning of this exciting opportunity. Please see her message below regarding the visit:
“Thank you SO much to the PTO for a great visit with author Wendy Mass. She gave two wonderful presentations that taught all about the writing process. She gave lots of tips and encouraged the students to keep up the great reading. The students asked really thoughtful questions that really impressed her. It was a terrific day! Thanks so much for the support to make it happen.”
Staff Cookie Exchange – Bakers Needed!
On December 19th the PTO is excited to host a cookie exchange for the staff!
We are still looking for 10 or more bakers/ buyers to help out! If you think you can bake or buy three dozen cookies for our hard working staff please click the link for the sign up form below.

Green Team -Used Toy Drive
The Coolidge PTO Green Team is pleased to again participate in a Used Toy Drive on WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 13 from 2:45 – 3:45 at the MPR doors. It’s a wonderful initiative which helps keep plastic out of landfills while providing toys to children in need. The recipient of our donations is Victory Outreach Manhattan, a church that will distribute the toys to kids in need throughout Harlem.
Toy tips!
Imagine giving a toy to a friend: no missing parts or broken pieces; it must be ready to play with and in good condition.
Toys should be clean, fully intact, and with working batteries (if applicable).
NO stuffed animals.
Boxes of puzzles and games should be taped or tied closed.
If you have a significant amount of toys, please bring them in black trash bags.
We are very lucky to have so much this holiday season. We look forward to seeing Coolidge families dropping off their toys at pick-up on 12/13 by the MPR!
